The Incredible but Unknown Hangover Solution
(and That's the Least of Its Benefits)
by Donna Gates of BodyEcology.com (reprinted with permission)
You wake to the alarm clock screeching, your head pounds,
you're dizzy and your stomach feels queasy. You start to regret
that last glass of wine you had at the neighbor's party last
night.
I certainly don't advocate hangovers -- I don't even recommend
alcohol at all -- but I know in the real world, especially
during the upcoming holiday season, it happens.
So I have an amazing "secret" solution for you that,
while it can certainly help you quickly eliminate a hangover,
can also help you greatly improve your health in far more
important ways.
Young Coconut Kefir -- A Healthy Hangover Solution and
So Much More
Too much alcohol affects your kidneys, liver, stomach and
small intestines, which explains some of what is happening
in your body. Dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, gastrointestinal
disturbances and disruption of sleep are some of the results.
Interestingly, most of the "cures" for a hangover
actually instead contribute more toxins to your body in the
form of more alcohol, medications, sugar and caffeine. All
of these options are, to borrow a phrase from Chinese medicine
that applies here, "excessive yin," or too expansive."
This means they can make you feel spaced out, foggy and confused,
which is just what you are trying to avoid. On top of that,
alcohol alone makes your blood more acidic and if you add
these "cures," it causes even more acidity, electrolyte
imbalances, etc. Obviously, they are not the answer.
Body Ecology has a much better answer called "Young
Coconut Kefir."
Young Coconut Kefir is a fermented drink made from the water
inside young green coconuts. Full of healthy bacteria (microflora),
it benefits your stomach, liver and intestines. With many
healing properties, it is a smart choice when you wake up
with a hangover. In fact, some of our customers tell us they
have Young Coconut Kefir before they have a glass of wine
- to counteract the negative effects of alcohol. Another customer
wrote to tell us she dilutes her occasional glass of wine
with Young Coconut Kefir because she loves the taste. She's
definitely noticed that this has eliminated the wine's
negative side effects.
Benefits of Young Coconut Kefir
When I was first introduced to young green coconuts, I recognized
their potential as a superfood. However, I knew that alone,
they were too sweet and could rob your body of minerals.
Knowing that fermenting foods removes the damaging effects
of sugars (even natural sugars) and tremendously increases
health benefits, I created Young Coconut Kefir. Over the years,
our customers have been sending in rave reviews for what this
delicious fermented drink does for their health.
Here are just some of the other benefits of Young Coconut
Kefir:
-
Can help stop sugar and alcohol cravings.
-
Aids digestion of all foods.
-
Has a toning affect on the intestines, even flattening
the abdomen!
-
Maintain youthful skin, with many people reporting a
better complexion. Additionally, you may notice brown
age spots on the skin fading away -- and skin tags, moles
or warts drying up and disappearing.
-
Contains high levels of valuable minerals, including
potassium, natural sodium, calcium and magnesium, which
explains why hair, skin and mails become stronger and
have a prettier shine.
-
Appears to have a beneficial cleansing effect on the
endocrine system (adrenals, thyroid, pituitary and ovaries).
Women find their periods are cleaner and healthier and
some who had experienced early menopause have found this
important monthly cleansing returning again.
-
Increases energy and gives you an overall feeling of
health.
-
Beneficial for dehydration and hangovers.
The Little-Known Hangover -- Auto-Intoxication
It's not just alcohol that creates symptoms of intoxication
in your body. Candida -- a systemic yeast/fungal infection
that Body Ecology has specialized in for years -- creates similar
symptoms. Candida floods your body with a toxic by-product
called acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde produces similar symptoms
to an alcohol hangover.
This serious toxin poisons tissues, is not easily eliminated
and accumulates in your brain, spinal cord and muscles. Keeping
in mind that your heart and intestines are muscles, you may
now understand why you have symptoms of brain fog, muscle
weakness and even pain.
Interestingly, alcoholics often have candida that has spread
to their liver. If they try to give up alcohol without understanding
how to cope with these cravings, it can be challenging.
Since Young Coconut Kefir can stop cravings for sugar and
alcohol, it can be especially healing for alcoholics
(who instead usually turn to heavy use of sugar and cigarettes
-- poor alternatives.)
Young Coconut Kefir provides the defense your body needs
to fight the symptoms of a hangover -- and the systemic fungal
infection caused by candida.
One of Nature's "Wonder Foods" -- Young Green
Coconuts
|

Unfermented young coconut water is too sweet and robs
your body of precious minerals. To get all the health
benefits, make Young Coconut Kefir with Kefir
Starter or any of these other culture
starters.
|
While you may not yet find young green coconuts in your grocery
produce section, they are readily available in Asian, Hispanic
and other ethnic stores or farmer's markets. And because tens
of thousands of Body Ecology customers, and thousands of parents
whose children have autism, now make and drink Young Coconut
Kefir daily, these coconuts are becoming much more widely
available, so many health food stores can obtain them for
you, too.
You can get more from your young green coconut than just
the beneficial water -- there is also the pudding-like meat
inside. Unlike the harder meat of the mature coconut, there
is a soft center lining the shell of the young green coconut.
Technically a seed, this meat is high in protein, enzyme-rich
and very easy to digest. Like all seeds and nuts, it is a
protein fat, and it provides an excellent source of lauric
(antiviral) and caprylic (anti-fungal) fatty acids.
Ferment the meat of young green coconuts and you have kefir
cheese -- a delicious, probiotic-rich alternative to dairy
cheese -- with antiviral and anti-fungal benefits.
How to Make Young Coconut Kefir
Making Young Coconut Kefir is easy, just follow the
Young Coconut Kefir recipe on our website at bodyecology.com.
You can use Body Ecology's Kefir
Starter (which also has the recipe in the box) or experiment
with our other
starters for a wide spectrum of beneficial bacteria.
Young Coconut Kefir is a delicious drink that has a bubbly
taste similar to champagne (ironic, considering you can use
it as a hangover solution!) Try it on its own or add Stevia
for a healthy, sweet replacement for sugar-laden soft drinks.
You can also get creative by mixing in ginger, lemon and/or
lime.
Drinking Young Coconut Kefir regularly will help build beneficial
bacteria in your system. Drink half a cup with meals to aid
your digestion. A half cup at bedtime will help establish
a healthy inner ecosystem. Studies from Europe show that when
you are lying still during sleep, the microflora reproduce
faster.
In the morning, you can also combine a half cup of Young
Coconut Kefir with low sugar juices that are 100% concentrates,
like unsweetened cranberry, black currant, noni, blueberry
and pomegranate as a great wake-up tonic. Once you realize
the benefits of Young Coconut Kefir, you will find it becomes
a staple in your refrigerator
essential for your overall
health, and also useful for the morning after that holiday
party where you wish you hadn't had one too many.
