This simple and very inexpensive recipe to make holiday ornaments
is a great way to entertain children - and makes for excellent
gifts that they can give their family and friends. Remember
to grab your 55-recipe bonus e-Book accessible below too!
Mix the water and salt and let sit for a minute or so to
allow some of the salt to dissolve. In the bowl of an electric
mixer, slowly add the flour to the salt water, and mix all
together until smooth and pliable. Cover the dough with plastic
wrap and let sit for about 5 minutes.
Roll out to a 3/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and
cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Take a straw and poke
a hole at the top of the ornament (to hang with string). Place
the "ornaments" on a non-stick baking sheet and
bake in a 300-degree oven for an hour.
Remember, you do not want them too dark in color or it could
interfere with the decorating of the "ornaments".
Let the "ornaments" cool completely. Then paint
using acrylic paints and decorate them as you like. Makes
about 2 dozen pieces, but please do not eat them! These
are for decorative purposes only.
